Bill Gates Responds to “Will we still need humans?”, Caltech talks the One Skill AI Can't Replace, and Encrypted AI Agent Chats
While discussing AI, Bill Gates responds to the question "Will we still need humans?" Caltech professor Anima Anandkumar explains the one skill AI can't replace. Anton Pidkuiko gave agents a set of cryptography functions, and two Sonnet 3.7 autonomously figured out how to end-to-end encrypt their communication via public keys exchange. And much more is revealed in this week's edition of AI Minds!

🎥 Anima Anandkumar: The One Skill AI Can't Replace
Video Description: “Caltech's Professor Anima Anandkumar states, "A lot of these AI tools are getting better, but you still need to provide AI what to do." So how can we discover the questions we want to ask AI in our lives?
Professor Anandkumar explains how she draws out creative thinking from her students at Caltech. She also shares her personal journey of developing the mission to "solve real-world scientific problems through AI," providing hints on how we can find our own mission.”

🔍 Benchmarking Expert-Level Medical Reasoning and Protecting against Malicious Speech Synthesis
MedXpertQA: Benchmarking Expert-Level Medical Reasoning and Understanding - This paper introduces MedXpertQA, a highly challenging and comprehensive benchmark to evaluate expert-level medical knowledge and advanced reasoning. MedXpertQA includes 4,460 questions spanning 17 specialties and 11 body systems.
SafeSpeech: Robust and Universal Voice Protection Against Malicious Speech Synthesis - Existing defense methods cannot effectively prevent deepfake exploitation and are vulnerable to robust training techniques. In response, the authors of this paper propose a defensive framework, SafeSpeech, which protects the users' audio before uploading by embedding imperceptible perturbations on original speeches to prevent high-quality synthetic speech.

⚡ Hear the Mona Lisa Speak: Lemon Slice Live and Deepgram
Bringing Characters to Life in Real Time: Lemon Slice Live Launches with Deepgram - Lemon Slice is pioneering the next generation of expressive AI with a video foundation model that lets anyone create and interact with animated, talking characters. Their newest release, Lemon Slice Live, takes this vision even further. It allows users to video chat in real time with characters generated from any photo or illustration. Check it out here!

It's only been just over 72 hours since Midjourney dropped Omni Reference.
